Aquarium invites visitors to become Marine Biologists for the day

As part of National Science Week,
Between Friday, March 7th and Sunday, March 16th all visitors to the aquarium will be able to take part in a series of science-based activities.
They will be handed a survey form at reception and then asked to note the behaviour of different marine creatures throughout the aquarium.
Blue Reef's Anna Etchells said: "The form includes background information on the species being studied and space for visitors to make notes on the specific behaviour of the creatures during their observations."
Among the species included in the survey are seahorses, sharks, crawfish and otters.
"We wanted as wide a variety of species as possible with as many different behavioural characteristics," added Anna.
"Sharks are on the move continuously while species like seahorses spend large amounts of their time virtually motionless. Others, like crawfish, become very active at specific times of the day.
"We're looking to gather specific observations of individual creatures; how they interact with other members of their own species as well as their behaviour towards other marine life in the display," she added.
· The activities will take place daily throughout National Science Week from Friday, March 7th - Sunday, March 16th.
