Trai's Trials for Blue Planet Live

Trai's Trials for Blue Planet Live

BBC Weather Presenter Trai Anfield was the guest celebrity narrator for the stunning Blue Planet Live!-the innovative concert based on the award-winning BBC documentary The Blue Planet at the Metro Radio Arena.

A giant 18 x 10 m screen showcasing the breathtaking images of captivating creatures from the deep blue sea created a feeling of actually being amongst the creatures in the ocean.

Outdoor girl Trai, never one to take her responsibilities lightly, decided to brush up on her aquatics and booked into Tynemouth's Blue Reef Aquarium for a day's training as an Aquarist to put her in good stead for her forthcoming 'hosting duties'

So, taking a break from preparing the weather forecast for BBC Look North, Trai spent a day up close and personal with the creatures of the aquarium which is home to everything from seahorses and puffer fish to poisonous dart frogs and tropical sharks. Trai had the chance to come into contact with over thirty living displays revealing the sheer variety of life in the deep; from giant crabs and lobsters to rays and octopus.

The day started for Trai by preparing food for and feeding the sharks, rays, octopus and otters. She then had to get down to the dirty business of cleaning the tanks before becoming nursemaid and monitoring the newborn creatures at the Aquarium.

Trai said:

"This has been a fabulous day, it has been a real eye-opener and I have thoroughly enjoyed being so close to the creatures and especially enjoyed the spectacular coral reef and the amazing gigantic ocean display. This has certainly put me in the mood for presenting The Blue Planet Live!
