Hastings Blue Reef Aquarium has donated tickets to a local women’s charity.
The Rock-a-Nore Road attraction has offered a set of five adult and six children’s tickets to a group of women from the Oasis Woman Recovery Service.
The Brighton Oasis Project (BOP) is a substance misuse service for women and families in the heart of Brighton. Its aim is to support and empower women who have difficulties with drink or drugs to make positive changes in their lives.
Blue Reef Aquarium’s Leanna Lawson said: “We were approached by one of the project workers from the Brighton Oasis Project which works with local women and families.
“She mentioned the New Year was a particularly hard time for many of the people they work with and said several women had asked if they could visit the aquarium with their kids.
“We were only too pleased to donate some tickets for them and their children to come and enjoy themselves and get away from the stresses and strains of their everyday lives and we are looking forward to welcoming them in January, when they plan to visit,” she added.
Oasis has experience of providing support to women in Brighton and Hove for over 20 years.
In 2017 the charity’s goal is to expand its services to Hastings and Eastbourne and start to run women’s groups in those locations as well.
