This May half term Blue Reef Aquarium is getting in touch with its creative side and has teamed up with a local artist from the Art8 festival Newquay.
From Friday 23rd May to Sunday 1st June our tanks will be host to the enchanting creations of local artist Helen Eastham. Her beautiful glass works will be sunken in the tanks among our creatures. Her work includes fish, flowers and upside down monsters!
As you walk through the displays you will notice that Helen has designed her pieces with our creatures in mind, even designing glass balls that our sea horses can latch on to. Her pieces will also be displayed in the Ocean Café with the magnificent view of Towan beach as their backdrop.
If you are impressed by the magnificent creations of Helen then you will be pleased to hear she has offered to make a glass fish for three lucky winners from schools in Newquay. To win this amazing prize all the students have to do is put their own design into one of Helen’s fish shaped templates and she will pick her favourite from each age category.
All the designs will be displayed in the Ocean café along with the work of the artists, so make sure you visit Blue Reef Aquarium to see your art displayed with the professionals. Along with a family ticket to the aquarium the winning fish designs will be presented to the winners at a prize giving held at the aquarium.
So get down to the aquarium this May half term, get inspired and learn a whole lot about our amazing oceans.
