Visitors to Tynemouth’s Blue Reef Aquarium will be able to come face to face with a pair of real life mermaids over the Whitsun holidays (Monday, May 30th – Sunday, June 5th).
The mythical, marine-themed meet and greet, which is included in the admission price, will be taking place daily at the North Tyneside wildlife attraction between 12.30pm – 2.30pm.
Youngsters will have the chance to find out all about the magical world beneath the waves in the company of ‘The Little Mermaid’ and ‘The Snow Queen’.
There will also be storytelling, face painting, glitter tattoos, a dressing up box and plenty of amazing photo opportunities.
Blue Reef Aquarium’s Rosie Wiggin said: “We’re absolutely delighted to be hosting two real life mermaids here at the aquarium and we are expecting them to cause a lot of excitement; particularly with our younger visitors.
“Having the chance to come face to face with these mythical creatures will be a magical experience.
“It will be fascinating to see whether the other sea creatures interact with them and, for our visitors, it will be a one-off opportunity to see a legend literally come to life before their eyes.
“As well as revealing the mythical stories of the deep during meet and greet sessions visitors will also be able to have their pictures taken with them,” she added.
