Take a Bite Out of Prehistory This Summer!

Travel back in time this summer and explore the incredible story of shark evolution! Discover how these fascinating predators have adapted over hundreds of millions of years, from the earliest sharks that swam the oceans over 450 million years ago to the remarkable species we see today, including the epaulette shark.

Uncover the secrets of these ancient survivors as you journey through the aquarium and learn how sharks have evolved into some of the ocean’s most extraordinary animals.

Meet our sharks

As you explore the aquarium, keep an eye out for our amazing epaulette sharks and zebra horn sharks. Both of these fascinating species are bottom-dwelling sharks, perfectly adapted to life on the seafloor. Don’t miss our Tropical Sharks Talk, held daily at 2:00pm, where you’ll learn more about these incredible animals, their unique behaviours, and the adaptations that help them thrive.

What to expect

• Jurassic Shark Trail
  Follow our interactive trail through the aquarium and trace the incredible journey of shark evolution. Along the way, you’ll discover fascinating facts about prehistoric sharks, their adaptations, and the species that continue to thrive today.
• Prehistoric Shark Workshop at 2:30pm
  Take your adventure even further with our engaging workshop, where you’ll explore the world of prehistoric sharks. Get hands-on with real shark teeth, compare fossils through time, and see the sheer size of a Megalodon tooth for yourself.
• Fossil Dig Excavation (Selected times during the morning)
  Become a junior palaeontologist and uncover ancient treasures in our fossil dig sandpit. Grab your tools, dig through the sand, and see what prehistoric fossils you can discover!
