What is Blue Reef Beach Club?

Here at Blue Reef Aquarium Portsmouth, we’re blessed with a beachfront location overlooking the beloved waters of the Solent. And it’s here where visitors can enjoy the fun and thrills of the Beach Club Splash Park, an open-air wet play zone that’s open to families all year round (weather permitting).

Rather than letting our wonderful location go to waste, we devised the Beach Club Splash Park as the ultimate adventure play area where younger visitors can have fun and – provided they’ve got mum’s permission of course – get a little wet. The park features water fountains, showers and sandpits, as well as a soft-fall base to maximise safety and bring peace of mind to all you parents watching on.

What is there to do at Blue Reef Beach Club?

“What to do in Portsmouth for families?” is a question we get asked a lot, so we’ve always made it our mission to ensure that Portsmouth Aquarium offers as fun and engaging a day out as possible. Of course, our animals are the main priority for most visitors, but it’s nice to know that the Blue Reef Beach Club is available when the kids are ready to let off some steam.

For little ones, there’s certainly plenty to get excited about at the Beach Club, with a range of outdoor equipment that allows for both wet and dry play. The park currently plays host to a play boat, spring swings, water fountains and showers, not to mention a couple of sand pits where children can hone their castle-building skills before hitting the beach.

As for our older visitors, the main attraction is, naturally, the view!* We’re in a prime spot for taking in the beauty of the Solent, with a sweeping panorama over the bay. Benches provide the perfect spot to drink in the scenery while keeping one eye on your little ones, while our onsite Driftwood Kitchen Cafe offers plenty of food and drink options just a short walk away.

Who would love Blue Reef Beach Club?

While kids will be the main benefactors of the Blue Reef Beach Club (owing to its awesome outdoor play equipment), the space is open to all visitors – even those simply looking to get some fresh air and enjoy the view.

On fine days when the sun is shining, we would encourage all visitors to step out into our Beach Club and enjoy the unique coastal scenery. As mentioned, the space is open all year round, although it is occasionally off-limits when the weather proves particularly, shall we say, British.

Full, unlimited access to the Beach Club Splash Park is included in the price of a standard Blue Reef Aquarium ticket, although we should note that you can’t purchase a ticket solely to access the Beach Club. We have, of course, endeavoured to make the Beach Club as child-friendly as possible, but do insist that youngsters are supervised at all times when enjoying the space.
